Sam And Saundra’s Second
Time Around – Part 49
Canada
6/18/11 – Summit Lake
We cheer at
Buckinghorse River, chug through Fort Nelson, and see our first moose.
Wait a sec. We see our first MOOSE!!! There, that’s more like it!
Excited we all were!

A little while later –
we saw our first BEAR!!! That was exciting too.

We make it to Summit
Lake (Stone Mountain Provincial Park) – very postcardesque. The lake was
reflecting awesome mountain views and its edges were shallow enough to wade
in. We played. Owen saw a beaver by the beaver dam up the stream a
ways. Sam and Owen climbed part of the hillside, while I started, but had
to stop to look at and for rocks. We had a campfire, just so we could
burn/consume S’mores. Since we had been directed by the camp host to use
two lakeside spaces – we sprawled and enjoyed. Sam and I could have used our
fold-a-boat, but we left it home this trip. Owen continues to teach us
new card games and we played out by the lake until it was time to rest up for
tomorrow. I fear that we are setting our regime for the trip. Stay up
late – darkness is not so dark – and sleep in. Tough life we have
introduced Owen to. We need to keep this place in our dreams (more trustworthy
than mere memory) – well worth revisiting.
