Sam And Saundra’s Second Time Around – Part 34
Mexico
11/1/10 – 3/1/11 – Yuma Break – Cabo San Lucas
We have not tired of the sun or fun.
Getting spoiled. We are going for one more adventure – snorkeling.
We opt for the Cabo Escape lunch snorkeling trip. We get up not so early
and catch a taxi to the
wharf. We get in a little side discussion
on the way about what the difference is between a cab and a taxi, and where the
two terms came from. Nope. Not going to tell you. We get
there early and take another stroll around the dock. Take a few pictures
of puffer fish that swim a little close to the edge. After unsuccessfully
looking for the Cabo Wabo bar – just to say we were there, we watch the boats
and ships and birds. Soon it is time to get onto the large two-story boat
that is going to take us into the water to play. We are going to Chileno
Beach that is back up towards Cabo San Jose – as it is an area full of fish and
has no large hotels in the way.

Sam and I choose seats on top – as do most of
the guests. We are barely free of the dock at 11 am, when we are served
drinks of our choice. The bow is pointed toward the Cabo Portal and we
follow along. Great photo op. We speed along, listening to great music
and smiling big, big, big. The sun is shining on the rippling Sea of
Cortez and whales are spouting and waving their tales from afar. Truly,
truly grateful. Sam is issued snorkel gear. My ‘water proof’ ear
plugs no longer work since my ears have changed shapes again due to last year’s
activities. Sam warns the crew as I plan to ‘bob’ when we get there and
he does not want to lose me. Nice man. We get to the beach and one after
another the guests turn into sea creatures. When all who are going are
gone, I slip down the ladder in the back, near the pontoons. The clear
light emerald water is full of gentle waves and I inch my way from the ladder,
finally letting go. Two of the crew paddle kayaks around, on safely
duty - probably a good thing considering the amount of drinks
served on the way to this spot. Out of the blue, one of the crew throws
stuff at me. I was concerned until I realized it was bread crusts and the
fish started swarming around me. Even without my head being underwater,
the colors were fabulous and at times I was totally tickled by the fish getting
up close. After a long, long time, I looked up and around to try and spot
Sam. They had obviously gone the wrong direction, so I stayed where I was
and had a grand time with my new buds. I was one of the last ones back on
board. I Loved It!
Back on boat, we were served a great
lunch. Entertainment home included a sing along and a dancing contest,
along with a ‘treasure hunt’ game that I still am trying to decide if I should
have enjoyed it as much as I did. We got back to the docks around 4 pm.
Sam is getting very, very tan and I know for a fact that he enjoyed his two
week birthday bash in Cabo. What a vacation from our vacation!
Wanna go back to Honeymoon Beach Sam? Love you!
