Air Adventure
Just about the time
that we needed to move out of the way for the next boat to have a turn, a huge
brown bear shows up. Gets very close. Closer than what we got to the
glacier. Some bear gawkers get uncomfortable at how close. Me, I am
taking pictures and am used to the X10 view of animals. No worries.
At least until I took the camera away from my eyes. OOOHHH!
Close! ‘Brownie is intent on fishing. We stop fishing as we do not
want to antagonize this bear. We want to stay up close without getting too
personal. She checks out the shore area first – I think to make sure none
of those other bears were going to surprise her. Then she enters the
water. She looks over the fish buffet, every once in a while casting a
glance our way. She looks hungry. I try to look very unappetizing.
Very hard for me to do. I do no want to be bear bait! I go back to taking
pictures. Much safer. The bear fished, then swam out into the lake and
around the shoreline, out of sight to the left.

We thought this
fantabulous adventure had hit its high point… we fish, catching a few more,
then the bear returns for an encore performance. We stopped all activity
to give her a proper audience. She finally went back into the brush and we took
off to the other side of the lake. We note a small resort is located on
one of the shore/inlets of the lake. Turns out that there is ‘an
adventure’ where you can fly here, experience a vacation stay in a most remote
area, while staying at a fairly functioning resort. No parking lots. No
truck noise. On the other side of the lake, we view a great waterfalls and our
guide takes our pictures. We in turn catch sight of an eagle, then
another and when I download my pictures, I discover that it was an occupied
nest. It is time to fly back. Six hours have gone by way too fast.
