Sam And Saundra’s
Second Time Around – Part 48
Canada
6/17/11 – Bijoux Falls
Provincial Park
Sam is obsessed.
He is going to get us to the Klutina by the 24th or
else. Why you ask? Good Question!!! Anyway, we are getting ‘up
close’ to the Rocky Mountains, some with ‘regular snow’ still covering
them. We make it to Chetwynd and take a left. We are going to
bypass Dawson Creek, following Hudson’s Hope Loop Road – along the Peace River-
through Hudson’s Hope and up and down 10% (aka: Mighty Steep) or so
grades. Brutus handled it quite well, except for one blip. I am convinced
Sam forgot to say please. All of a sudden, Brutus slowed while following
the narrowish road that was climbing one of the steep, curveful, perpendicular
type mountains. When I asked Sam if Brutus was going to make it – he calmly
said “No, I don’t think so”. Another adrenalin rush. As it turned out – Sam was
wrong. Brutus and his precious cargo made it. Just not easily. Owen was
busy taking pictures and missed my miniscule display of concern – another good
thing. Beautiful scenery.
| Made It To Bijoux Falls Provincial Park |
A good alternative
route, if the amount of two digit road grades doesn’t concern you. We stopped
and watched the water fall at Bijoux Falls Provincial Park. We are getting this
activity down pat. Took pictures of each other and the many Blue Jays. We
connect to the Alaska Highway just north of Fort St. John, turn left and spend
a night at the Pink Mountain RV Park. We recommend looking at the
mountain, but not the Park.
