Sam And Saundra's Second Time Around - Part 14

Sam And Saundra’s Second Time Around – Part 14

11/1/10-3/1/11 Side Trip To Celebrate With Family

It was really dark.  I do not like the dark.  It was cold. I do not like the cold. We were climbing up a winding road. Up, up, up.  I do not like winding roads where I can look down, down, down.  I was not alone.  Sam was driving Brutus. Don and Carolyn were in the backseat.  I do not know what they were doing or thinking.  I was helping Sam maneuver Brutus up that mountain, without saying a word.  Not easy.  We finally made it and a young man bounded up to the door and whisked Brutus to a safe parking spot … somewhere.  We all entered the Orange County Mining Company.  We were ready to celebrate Aunt Evelyn’s 80th birthday with Uncle Calvin, their daughter, Deanna, son-in-law, Tom and Grandchildren, AJ (age 12) and Ashley (age 10).  What an awesome restaurant.  After hugs all around we proceeded to celebrate. A wonderful meal, a more wonderful reunion with family. A fantastic view looking down on all the lights in the Orange County, California area. Time sped by and the evening was over.  Tom and Deanna were generous. The kids are awesome. We were invited to see Uncle Calvin and Aunt Evelyn’s new home the following day.

A great apartment! We got to share another meal and spend time just visiting.  Reward in itself. AJ and Ashley are members of a rock band ‘Final Five’.  They recently had a showcase on YouTube.  Deanna sent us the link and we were awed.  Such talent!  We all hope to keep in better touch in the future. We love our family! Truly blessed!

We spent some time checking out the house that Don and Carolyn lived in.  Then returned to Yuma.

11/1/10-3/1/11 New Year’s Eve

We celebrated New Years Eve and our 32nd wedding anniversary at the Park.  We signed up for the prime rib dinner and Gila Band dance that followed.  Don and Carolyn also celebrated the changing of the year here.  The food was good and the company was better.  At the New Year’s Eve dance, they had us dance and made a ring around us. Many of the people we have met joined hands in creating the ring.  I did not cry! Wanted to.
