Sam And Saundra’s Second Time Around – Part 13
Arizona
11/1/10 – 3/1/11 Yuma
- Holidays, Church and Rainbows
Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners are on the house. It is amazing that the owner, Jesse, his wife
and family, are not only willing to provide the turkey, taters/gravy and
stuffing, but that they can do this for such large numbers. We provided the rest of the meals items. What an array of great food, including all
the traditional (green bean casserole) sides.
New Years is a ‘pay for’ prime rib buffet and dance. Since our anniversary is on the first – we
will be dancing ‘til dawn – or at least 10 pm, in celebration.
Yuma has wonderful sunsets – they don’t involve a lot of
moisture, other than a few whispy clouds that catch and reflect the red, red
rays of the retiring sun. Yep, in Yuma – even the sun retires.

Sam and I had no idea that there was a sunrise until he
volunteered to help with the sound mixing for the church services. Since the
Chapel de Oro service starts at the seemingly ‘ungodly’ hour of 9 am, he tries
to get there by 7 am. The sun is just
beginning to stretch up it’s rays towards the backside of the Fortuna Foothills
– starting a spectacular morning eye feast that features shades of reds,
oranges, purples. The more spirit-like
the clouds, the more breath-taking the display.
Another reason to go to church!
After a 48 hour period of sporadic, drizzling moisture that
full-time Yuma-honians (Yumans?) call
‘rain’, a Promise sign showed up. Right across the street….
