Sam And Saundra’s Year Long Adventure – Part 176
Canada
8/26/09 - Lightening Lake, Manning Provincial Park
| Lightening Lake |
We are able to spend a total of two nights in this scenic
area. The lake is small enough so that
we can use the fold-a-boat. Due to the steep hill leading to the water from the
campground, we launch from the day use area. Good place to come and camp. Since we are closer to population centers,
the campground is teeming with other campers.
Small rental boats are available and we were far from being alone as we
entered the waters of the lake. It is
shaped like a flash of lightening, with several surprising zags leading from
the main zig-zag shape. Kayaks and
canoes were the favorite, but a few privately owned truck-top craft could also
be seen. We fished and fished and
fished. We rowed and rowed and rowed
(even electric motors were not welcome on this lake). The weather was great and Sam was able to
stretch out and suntan a little. I am still not up to trying anything but
sitting in the boat. We got a good workout and came off of the lake with an
appetite, but no fish. We drove back
around the lake, the way we came in, to a resort area that included a small
grocery. We bought as little as
possible, as the costs were quite high.
We hiked a little, took a few pictures, and had another great dinner and
movie. This time, I helped.
